Round basins for bathrooms, ensuites and powder rooms, from Nood Co concrete bowls and pedestals to Caroma Liano II round basins that sit on, in or under the benchtop.

Why a round basin works

A round basin softens a room full of straight lines: rectangular tiles, square shower screens and flat vanity fronts. It also has a compact footprint, so it suits narrow benches, powder rooms and ensuites where the vanity is shallow. On a bench, a round bowl reads as a sculptural piece from every angle, which is why it is the classic choice for an above counter basin.

Nood Co concrete round basins

Nood Co round basins are hand-cast concrete and measure from 380 to 420mm across. The range includes the Bowl, Hoop, Funl, Mill, Tubb and Prism Circle, each with its own profile. For a basin that stands on the floor, the Cylinder Bowl, Cylinder Stepp Circle and Cylinder Prism Circle are full pedestals, and the Cylinder Bowl also comes in a two-tone version. See freestanding basins.

Caroma Liano II round basins

Caroma offers the Liano II round in three mounting styles:

  • 400mm round inset: drops into a cut-out in the benchtop.
  • 400mm round above counter: sits on top of the bench.
  • 440mm round under/over counter with overflow: can be fitted under a stone top or on top of the bench.

The overflow gives water a way out if the basin is left running.

Tap placement on a round bowl

Round bowls drain at the centre, so aim the water there.

  • For inset and under counter basins, a standard basin mixer on the bench behind is usually right.
  • For above counter and concrete bowls, use a tall mixer or a wall mixer and spout.
  • Check spout reach against the radius of the bowl. A spout that is too short splashes onto the rim.

Pairing ideas

Round basins look good on fluted or timber vanities, and against hexagon or penny round tiles for a playful feel. For something more linear, compare rectangular basins.

FAQs

What size round basin do I need?

Our Nood Co round basins are 380 to 420mm across, and the Caroma Liano II rounds come in 400mm and 440mm. For a shallow or narrow vanity, the smaller sizes leave more bench around the bowl.

What does under/over counter mean?

An under/over counter basin can be installed either beneath the benchtop or sitting on top of it. That gives you a choice of look from the same basin. Check the product page for the cut-out needed for each method.

Do round basins splash more than rectangular ones?

Not if the tap is set up well. The key is aiming the water at the centre of the bowl, so match the spout reach and height to the basin. A tall mixer or wall spout set too far back is the usual cause of splashing.

Can I get a round basin that stands on the floor?

Yes. The Nood Co Cylinder basins are round concrete pedestals that need no vanity, including a two-tone version of the Cylinder Bowl.
