Coral Bush Hammered & Tumbled Limestone Crazy Pave

Natural stone crazy paving, from mesh-backed marble mosaics for bathroom floors and feature walls to random limestone, travertine, sandstone and bluestone pieces for paths, patios and courtyards.

Two kinds of crazy pave

Crazy pave is stone broken into irregular pieces and laid like a puzzle. Every product here is real stone. It comes in two forms, and they suit very different jobs.

Crazy pave mosaics are small irregular pieces fixed to a mesh sheet, so they lay as easily as any mosaic. They bring a relaxed, organic look to bathroom floors, shower floors and feature walls. Choose from Crazy Pave Carrara, Rosso, Verde, Botticino and Mint, Carrara Bardiglio, and Crazy Calacatta Viola, in tumbled or honed finishes. Crazy Mix Marble and Crazy Paving 5 Multicolor come on 305 x 305 mm sheets in a blend of colours. See more marble mosaic tiles.

Loose crazy pave is larger random stone for outdoor paving. Our range includes Crema Siena Limestone, Silver Travertine, Classic Ivory, Bluestone and Mint White Random Sandstone. These suit paths, patios, courtyards and garden areas.

Choosing a stone

  • Limestone and Classic Ivory: light, warm and coastal. See limestone tiles.
  • Silver Travertine: soft grey with natural texture. See travertine tiles.
  • Sandstone: golden and earthy; see sandstone tiles.
  • Bluestone: dark and hard-wearing for a crisp contrast with garden beds.

Laying and care

Loose crazy pave is laid on a concrete base in mortar, with the joints filled to suit the look you want: tight and neat, or wider and rustic. The pieces vary in shape and thickness, so a skilled paver makes a big difference to the result. Mosaic sheets are fixed with tile adhesive and grouted like any mosaic.

All crazy pave is natural stone, so seal it after installation and reseal from time to time, especially outdoors where leaves, oil and pool water can stain. Find sealers in tile sealers. To carry the look onto a wall, see stone cladding, and browse more outdoor tiles.

FAQs

Can crazy pave be used on a shower floor?

Yes, if you use the mesh-backed crazy pave mosaics. The small pieces follow the falls to the drain, and the many grout lines add grip. Seal the stone before and after grouting.

How is outdoor crazy paving laid?

Loose crazy pave is usually laid on a concrete slab in a mortar bed, with the gaps between pieces filled with mortar or grout. It takes more time than tiling because each piece is fitted by hand, so allow for that in your quote.

How much crazy pave should I order?

Measure the area in square metres and add extra for cutting and fitting, as random pieces create more offcuts than square tiles. Order all of it at once so the colour stays consistent.

Is crazy pave suitable for a driveway?

Some stones can be used on driveways, but only on a properly designed concrete base that takes vehicle loads. Talk to your builder or paver before choosing a stone, and check the product page for suitable uses.
