Shades of cream

Cream sits between white and beige. The palest are ivory and bone, which read almost white in a sunny room. Warmer marfil and buttery creams show a soft yellow or pink undertone, and some stone looks carry light beige or grey veining. Many ranges are offered in several colours, and this page shows each tile's cream variant, so you can compare the warmth of each one.

Materials and looks in cream

  • Marble and marble looks: Botticino and other natural marble mosaics, plus marble-effect porcelain such as Taj Mahal looks from Italian ranges. See marble tiles.
  • Stone and travertine looks: ivory stone-look and travertine-look porcelain, many with indoor and outdoor finishes.
  • Porcelanosa wall tiles: bone, marfil and natural tones in 596 x 1500 mm, including concrete, stone and basketweave textures. See Porcelanosa.
  • Large formats: 600 x 1200 mm and 1200 x 1200 mm floors with fewer grout lines. Browse large format tiles.
  • Handmade looks and mosaics: handmade-look ceramic, kit kat and square mosaics for walls.

Where cream tiles work

Cream is ideal when you want a light, calm room that still feels warm. It suits bathrooms, ensuites and open-plan floors that run through the home. Outdoor finishes and 20 mm pavers rated P4 and P5 let the same tone continue onto the patio and around the pool. See outdoor tiles. Natural marble and stone should be sealed; the porcelain needs no sealing.

Pairing cream tiles

Grout: choose an off-white, cream or light beige grout. Bright white grout can make cream tiles look dull or yellow beside it. Find colours in tile grout.

Tapware: brushed brass and gold bring out the warmth in cream. Brushed nickel gives a softer, quieter finish. If you are torn between cream and a cooler tone, compare our white tiles and beige ranges in the same light.

FAQs

What is the difference between cream and white tiles?

White tiles are cool or neutral, while cream tiles carry a soft yellow, pink or beige warmth. Cream feels gentler in rooms with warm light and timber, and white feels crisper and brighter.

Do cream tiles go with white walls?

Yes, as long as the white paint is a warm white rather than a stark, blue-based white. Hold your tile sample against the paint card in daylight before you choose.

What tapware suits cream bathroom tiles?

Brushed brass and gold bring out the warmth of cream, and brushed nickel gives a softer, understated look. Matte black adds contrast if you want a more graphic finish.

Are there cream tiles that work outdoors?

Yes. Several cream and ivory ranges come with external or grip finishes rated P4 or P5, and some have matching 20 mm pavers for patios and pool surrounds.
