Why choose a rectangular basin

A rectangle gives you more usable bowl for its footprint than a round basin of the same width, which helps when you wash your face or rinse a razor. Its straight edges also line up with the edge of a vanity, a benchtop and the grout lines in your tiles, so the whole wall looks ordered. That suits modern, minimal and Japandi-style bathrooms.

The range

All the rectangular basins here are hand-cast concrete from Nood Co, from 440 to 595mm wide:

• Box, Vesl Rectangle, Prism Rectangle and Stepp Rectangle: open basins for a vanity top, bench or wall.
• Shelf 01, Shelf 02, Shelf 03 and Loop 01: basins with an integrated ledge, so the mixer mounts on the basin. See shelf basins.

Sizing it to your vanity

Measure the top and leave bench space either side. A 440mm basin suits a small powder room vanity or a narrow wall. The wider sizes toward 595mm suit a 900mm or larger top, such as our 900mm vanities. Check the depth too: the basin and the tap must both fit front to back.

Tapware for rectangular basins

• Wall mixer and spout: the cleanest look. Measure the reach so water lands in the middle of the bowl, not at the back edge. Browse spouts.

Styling

Rectangular concrete pairs well with concrete look tiles for a tonal scheme, or with timber and terrazzo for contrast. If you prefer a softer shape, see round basins.
