The control for your shower

A shower mixer is the lever on the wall that turns the water on and sets the temperature. It sits on a valve built into the wall, and it is the part you touch every day, so it is worth matching it to the rest of your tapware. This collection covers bath/shower mixers from Caroma and diverter mixer trim kits from Meir.

Standard mixer or diverter mixer

  • Bath/shower mixer: one lever runs water to a single outlet, such as a shower rose or a bath spout. It suits a shower with one outlet, or a bath with its own spout.
  • Diverter mixer: adds a second control that sends the water to one of two outlets, for example a rose and a hand shower, or a shower and a bath spout. Choose one if your shower has two water outlets.

The Caroma Contura II, Liano II, Riviere and Urbane II ranges each come in both versions. The Meir Round diverter mixer comes as a trim kit with a standard or pinless handle.

Cover plates and handles

The cover plate is the flat piece behind the lever that hides the hole in the tiles. Urbane II offers round, square and rectangular plates, and Liano II comes with a rounded plate. Choose a shape that suits your tiles and other fittings: square plates line up neatly with square tiles, while round plates suit curved basins and roses.

Plan it before tiling

Most shower mixers rely on an in-wall body, and some products here are the trim only. Check the product page, then have your plumber fit the body at the right depth before the walls are waterproofed and tiled. See wall mixers for in-wall bodies and trim kits, and add a shower set or shower rose to finish the shower. Our tapware is WELS rated and WaterMark certified.

FAQs

Do I need a diverter mixer?

You need a diverter if one mixer will feed two outlets, such as an overhead rose and a hand shower, or a shower and a bath spout. If your shower has only one outlet, a standard bath/shower mixer is all you need.

What does trim kit mean on a shower mixer?

The trim kit is the visible part: the lever, cover plate and fittings. It attaches to an in-wall body that your plumber installs before tiling. If the title says the in-wall body is not included, order it separately.

Can a bath/shower mixer be used in a shower only?

Yes. The name means the mixer can feed a bath spout or a shower. In a shower-only room, it simply controls the shower outlet.

Which cover plate shape should I choose?

It comes down to style. Square and rectangular plates suit square tiles and angular basins, while round plates suit softer, curved fittings. Keep the same shape across your mixers and spouts for a consistent look.
