About Kazoku

Kazoku is known for hand-glazed Japanese mosaics. The glazes are applied by hand, so colour gathers at the edges of each piece and every sheet has gentle variation. It is a quiet, crafted look that suits modern, Japandi and natural interiors.

The tile range

  • Hatsu: a family of hand-glazed pieces in a square mosaic, a border mosaic and a long subway, so you can tile a wall, edge it and finish a niche in one look.
  • Sabi: a matt glazed mosaic for a soft, low-sheen finish.
  • Sapporo Green Speckle and Osaka Speckle: finger mosaics with a fine speckle through the glaze.
  • Regia: a Japanese tile series, including a metallic 25 x 25 mm mosaic.

Colours include white, cream, greens, blues and teals, wheat and mustard yellows, and earthy browns and burgundy.

Where to use Kazoku tiles

The tiles are porcelain and suit walls in bathrooms, showers, kitchens and laundries. Some designs are also rated for floors, and one carries a P4 slip rating. Use them for:

  • a kitchen splashback with a simple stone or timber benchtop;
  • a shower niche or feature wall;
  • a curved vanity front or island, wrapped in finger mosaics;
  • a powder room in a single, rich colour.

Kazoku clocks

The range also includes Japanese clocks in small, medium and large sizes: the hand-glazed Okinawa and Tohoku, and the crafted Kanto. They carry the same handmade character as the tiles and make a thoughtful accent for a kitchen or living room.

Plan and sample

The Kazoku Japanese Mosaic Sample Box lets you compare glazes at home before you choose. Find it in sample packs. See all Japanese tiles, compare with other kit kat tiles and mosaic tiles, or browse green tiles for colour matches. For a quiet floor to sit under a Kazoku wall, see stone look tiles.

FAQs

What is the Kazoku Hatsu range?

Hatsu is a family of hand-glazed Kazoku tiles that includes a square mosaic, a border mosaic and a long subway tile. Using them together lets you tile a wall, edge it and finish a niche in one consistent glaze.

Is the Regia metallic mosaic suitable for a splashback?

Yes. The Regia metallic 25 x 25 mm mosaic suits kitchen splashbacks and feature walls, where it reflects light. Clean it with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner to protect the finish.

How should I grout a hand-glazed mosaic?

Choose a grout that blends with the glaze so the colour variation stays the focus. Wipe off grout haze carefully, as hand-applied glazes have small recesses where residue can sit.

Do you sell Kazoku clocks?

Yes. The range includes Japanese clocks in small, medium and large sizes, such as the hand-glazed Okinawa and Tohoku and the crafted Kanto.
