Small circles, big character

Penny rounds are small circular tiles set on mesh sheets, with grout filling the space between each dot. The look goes back to early twentieth century bathrooms and suits retro, Art Deco and modern spaces alike. Ours come in two main sizes: a fine 23 mm dot and a bolder 48 mm dot.

Marble penny rounds

Most of the range is natural stone, so each sheet has its own veining and tone.

  • Carrara and Pietra Grey: soft white and deep grey for classic bathrooms.
  • Viola and Levanto: purple and burgundy-veined marbles for a dramatic feature. Levanto is honed for a soft, matt touch.
  • Rosso, Artemis Rojo and Mint Green: red and green stones that add colour with natural depth. Rosso is tumbled for a gently aged edge.

Glazed and metallic

  • White Penny Round Mosaic and Vintage Pink: glazed options in gloss or matt that need no sealing.
  • Copper and Rose Gold: metallic finishes that glow under lighting and work best on walls, niches and splashbacks.

Why penny rounds suit shower floors

Penny rounds are one of the best shapes for a shower base. The tiny pieces follow the fall to the drain without lips, and the high proportion of grout gives grip under wet feet. Most of the range is rated for floors. Use a quality grout and seal it, because the grout area is much larger than with standard tiles.

FAQs

Are penny round tiles good for a shower floor?

Yes. The small round pieces follow the slope to the drain and the many grout joints add grip. Choose a honed marble or matt finish and seal natural stone before use.

How much grout do penny round tiles need?

Much more than standard tiles, because grout fills the gaps between every circle. Plan for extra grout and choose a colour you are happy to see, as it makes up a large part of the surface.

Can metallic penny rounds go on a floor?

We suggest keeping copper and rose gold to walls, splashbacks and niches, where they will not wear under foot traffic. For floors, choose a marble or glazed penny round rated for floor use.

What is the difference between 23 mm and 48 mm penny rounds?

The 23 mm dot gives a fine, textured look and suits shower floors and small niches. The 48 mm dot shows the circle shape more clearly and suits larger walls where you want the pattern to read from across the room.
