What brushed copper looks like

Brushed copper is a warm metal finish with a pink-orange glow. The brushed texture softens the shine, so it reads as rich and earthy rather than flashy. It is warmer and deeper than brushed brass, and less pink than rose gold. In a room it acts like a piece of jewellery, so it works best against simple, calm surfaces.

Tiles and vanities that suit copper

• Warm whites and creams: copper glows against soft white and cream tiles and keeps the room light.
• Terracotta and clay: terracotta tiles and handmade looks pick up the orange in copper for a Mediterranean feel.
• Greens and blues: deep green or teal tiles, including zellige, contrast beautifully with copper.
• Concrete and grey: concrete-look tiles cool the room so the copper becomes the feature.
• Timber: walnut or warm oak vanities complete the look.

Caring for brushed copper tapware

Clean it gently with warm water, a little mild soap and a soft cloth, then dry it to prevent water spots. Never use copper polish, abrasive pads, scouring creams or harsh chemical sprays, as they can damage the finish. Keep a microfibre cloth handy for a quick wipe after use.
