Why 900mm is the most popular vanity width

A 900mm vanity fits most ensuites and family bathrooms without crowding the room. In many layouts it leaves space for a toilet and shower on the same wall, yet still gives you a usable benchtop and good drawer storage. It is the width most renovators start with, and they only change it if the room is very small or very large.

What is in this range

  • Aulic Diamond Collection: the Briony 900mm, the Voulari framed vanity in Harvest Oak and the Venetta framed vanity in Walnut, all wall hung. The 750mm Curva is also shown here for walls that need a little less width.
  • Serano Surfaces packages: the Ballina wall hung and Broadhurst floor standing packages, each 900mm with a Taj Mahal top. See vanity packages for what each one includes.

Wall hung or floor standing at 900mm

Most of this range is wall hung, which keeps the floor clear, makes cleaning easier and lets the floor tile run through to the wall. The Broadhurst is the floor standing option, with a furniture look that suits a classic or coastal scheme. Compare them with all wall hung vanities and floor standing vanities.

Matching the basin and tapware

On a 900mm top the basin is usually centred, with bench space either side. Decide how the tap will mount before the walls are tiled:

  • A basin mixer sits on the bench or the basin and needs a tap hole.
  • A wall mixer keeps the bench clear but must be set in the wall before tiling, with a spout long enough to reach the bowl.
  • An above counter basin raises the rim, so it usually needs a tall mixer or a wall spout.

Buying a cabinet only? Choose from our basins to complete it.

Need a different size?

If the wall is long, step up to a 1200mm vanity for more bench space. For a powder room, the compact floor standing Aulic minis are a better fit. Our designers can help you weigh it up at a free design consultation.

FAQs

Will a 900mm vanity fit in my ensuite?

Most ensuites can take a 900mm vanity, but measure the wall after allowing for the door swing, the toilet and the shower screen. Drawers also need clear space in front to open fully. If it is tight, the 750mm Curva in this range is a slimmer option.

Does a 900mm vanity come with a top and basin?

It depends on the product. The Aulic vanities can be bought as a cabinet or with a top, while the Ballina and Broadhurst packages come with a Taj Mahal top, basin and LED mirror. Check each product page for exactly what is included.

Is a wall hung or floor standing 900mm vanity better?

Wall hung vanities make a small bathroom feel bigger and are easier to clean under. Floor standing vanities suit homes where the plumbing comes up through the floor, or a classic furniture look. Both work at 900mm, so choose by style and where your pipes are.

What tap height works with a 900mm vanity?

For an inset or under counter basin, a standard basin mixer is usually right. For an above counter basin, choose a tall basin mixer or a wall spout so the water lands in the centre of the bowl. Check the spout reach against the basin depth before you buy.
