FAQs
How often does natural stone need to be resealed?
It depends on the stone, the sealer and how hard the area works. As a rough guide, check showers, kitchen floors and outdoor paving every year or two by dropping water on the surface. If it darkens quickly, it is time to reseal.
Why does my natural stone not match the sample exactly?
Stone is a natural material, so colour and veining change from block to block and even tile to tile. A sample shows the typical character, not every piece. Lay out tiles from several boxes before fixing to blend the variation evenly.
Can natural stone be used in a shower?
Yes. Honed and tumbled stone and mosaic sheets work well on shower floors and walls. Seal the stone before grouting and again after, and use a pH-neutral cleaner so soap and acidic products do not mark the surface.
What is the difference between 12 mm and 30 mm stone pavers?
12 mm stone is fixed with adhesive over a solid concrete slab, indoors or out. 30 mm pavers are thicker and stronger, which suits outdoor paving, pool surrounds and areas that take more load.
Is natural stone more slippery than tile?
It depends on the finish. Polished stone can be slippery when wet, while honed, tumbled and leather finishes give more grip. Choose a textured finish for bathrooms, pool areas and outdoors.
