Natural stone mosaics in marble, travertine and limestone, honed or tumbled, from kit kats and penny rounds to arch, crazy pave, fluted and flower designs for bathrooms, splashbacks and floors.

Real stone, small format

Every mosaic in this collection is cut from real stone, so no two sheets are exactly alike. Veins, pits and colour shifts are part of the appeal. Most are marble, with travertine and limestone for a warmer, softer look. Some are Italian stone, such as the Cross Hatch Italian White Travertine.

Stones and colours

  • White and grey marble: Carrara, Calacatta, Thassos, Pietra Grey and Bardiglio.
  • Warm marble and limestone: Botticino, Lotus White and Portuguese Limestone.
  • Travertine: Rome, Beige, Red and Italian White travertine.
  • Colour: Viola, Rosso, mint and sage green, and Calacatta Viola for bold features.

Several designs mix two stones in one sheet, such as Carrara with Thassos, Nero or Cinderella Grey dots in the basketweave and Castle patterns.

Designs

  • Fluted and split: Carrara Mini Bamboo Flute and Botticino Mini Split add vertical texture. See also fluted tiles.
  • Crazy pave: Rosso, Carrara Bardiglio, Calacatta Viola and a five-colour multicolour mix in random shapes. See more in crazy pave tiles.
  • Arch, Connect and Casablanca: repeating geometric shapes in honed or tumbled stone.
  • Flower: see the Alhambra Collection, plus Flower Carrara + Thassos and Flower Pink Green + Thassos.
  • Classic shapes: kit kat, penny round, hexagon, herringbone, basketweave and feather.

Honed or tumbled?

Honed stone is ground smooth to a flat, matt surface. It shows the stone's colour clearly and feels soft underfoot. Tumbled stone is rolled to round the edges and age the face, for a relaxed, old-world look that hides wear. Most of this collection is rated for both floors and walls.

Caring for stone mosaics

Seal stone mosaics after grouting and again every few years, especially in showers and near cooktops. Clean with a pH-neutral cleaner, never vinegar or bleach, which can etch marble. Find sealers in tile sealers. Comparing with full-size stone? See marble tiles and natural stone.

FAQs

How often should stone mosaics be sealed?

Seal them once after installation, then reseal every one to three years depending on use. Showers, splashbacks and busy floors need it more often. If water drops soak in rather than bead, it is time to reseal.

Can stone mosaics be used on a shower floor?

Yes. Most are rated for floors, and the small pieces suit a sloped shower base. Honed and tumbled stone gives better grip than polished, and it should be sealed before use.

Will my stone mosaic match the photo exactly?

Not exactly. Natural stone varies from batch to batch and sheet to sheet in colour and veining. Order a sample to see the current stock, and blend sheets from several boxes as you lay them.

What is the difference between marble and travertine mosaics?

Marble is a dense stone with veining and can be honed to a smooth finish. Travertine has natural pits and a warmer, earthy colour, and is often tumbled for a rustic look. Both need sealing.
