Ceramic wall tiles for bathrooms, kitchens, splashbacks and laundries, from gloss subway and handmade-look squares to large Porcelanosa wall tiles in stone, concrete and timber effects.

A wall tile first

Ceramic tile has a lighter, more porous clay body than porcelain, covered with a glaze that seals the face. The glaze does the hard work on a wall: it resists water and stains and wipes clean. The lighter body is also easier to cut and lighter to hang, which is why almost everything in this range is made for walls, splashbacks and shower walls rather than floors. If you need a floor tile, look at porcelain tiles instead.

Subway, handmade and zellige looks

This is where you will find many of our classic wall tiles:

  • Subway: Clovelly 2.0 White at 75 x 300 mm, Windermare at 75 x 225 mm, Byron handmade gloss and Rustic White handmade subway. See all subway tiles.
  • Handmade look: MANO, Manacor and Manual Series tiles have soft edges and a wavy glaze for a crafted feel. More in handmade tiles.
  • Zellige look: Mosman 100 x 100 mm captures the glossy, uneven surface of zellige tiles in an easier-to-lay tile.
  • Brick shapes: Portofino Brick at 65 x 260 mm and the terracotta-toned Muretti for a Mediterranean feel.

Large Porcelanosa wall tiles

At the other end of the scale are Porcelanosa ceramic wall tiles at 596 x 1500 mm. Santorini Bone and Terra Bone give a soft concrete effect, Hannover a stone effect, Taranto Marfil a marble effect and Gent Roble a timber look. The Treccia basketweave and Line Terra designs add texture; see 3D texture tiles for more. A tile this size covers a bathroom wall with very few grout lines.

Colours and finishes

White is the biggest group, followed by cream, green, grey, beige, blue and pink, with teal, sage and olive for something bolder. Gloss bounces light around a small bathroom or laundry, while matt and satin feel softer and hide water marks. For more colour and pattern ideas, browse Spanish tiles and our splashback tiles.

FAQs

Can ceramic tiles be used on a floor?

Most of the tiles in this range are wall tiles and are not rated for floors. A small number carry a slip rating and are suitable underfoot. Check the Room and Slip rating details on each product page, or choose porcelain for floors.

Are ceramic tiles suitable for shower walls?

Yes. The glazed face sheds water and wipes clean, and nearly every tile here is tagged for showers. The waterproofing membrane behind the tiles is what keeps the wall dry, so make sure it is installed correctly.

Should I choose ceramic or porcelain for a kitchen splashback?

Either works on a splashback because it is a wall surface with little wear. Ceramic offers more gloss, handmade and coloured options, while porcelain gives you a matching tile if you want to run the same look onto the floor.

Why choose a 596 x 1500 mm ceramic wall tile?

A large ceramic wall tile covers a lot of wall with few grout lines, which looks calm and is easier to keep clean. Ceramic is lighter than porcelain at the same size, which suits wall installation. Ask your tiler about the right adhesive for a large wall tile.
