The tiles behind our Tevel Travertine look: Travertine Soft Stone porcelain with Arch Rome, Stack Rome and Mini Bamboo Utica stone mosaics, and a sample box to try at home.

One colour, four textures

Tevel Travertine is a single-stone look. Everything sits in beige and cream, and the interest comes from shape and surface. Travertine Soft Stone is a travertine look porcelain for floors and walls. Three natural stone mosaics build on it: Arch Rome, a honed travertine mosaic in an arch shape; Stack Rome, a travertine mosaic laid in a neat stack; and Mini Bamboo Utica, a fluted mosaic.

Porcelain plus real stone

This look mixes two materials on purpose. The porcelain covers floors and large walls, needs no sealing and resists stains. The mosaics are real natural stone, so they bring the natural pitting and tone shifts of travertine to the places you see up close. Seal the stone after installation and clean it with a pH neutral cleaner. Because the mosaics come in small pieces, they also follow the edge of a niche or the line of a hob more neatly than a large tile.

Ideas for using Tevel Travertine

  • Run Travertine Soft Stone across the bathroom floor and up one wall, then line the shower niche with Arch Rome.
  • Use Mini Bamboo Utica on the front of a bath hob or a vanity wall for a soft fluted texture.
  • Lay Stack Rome as a splashback behind a timber or stone benchtop.
  • Take the look outside: one tile in this look has an external finish for patios and balconies. See outdoor tiles.

Test the stone in your own light

Real travertine varies from piece to piece, and the porcelain is designed to sit alongside it. The Tevel Travertine Tile Sample Box lets you check the match at home. Browse more travertine tiles and stone mosaic tiles, see every box in sample packs, and find finished rooms on our projects page. For sealer, see tile sealers.

FAQs

Which tiles in Tevel Travertine are real stone?

The three mosaics, Arch Rome, Stack Rome and Mini Bamboo Utica, are natural stone. Travertine Soft Stone is porcelain made to look like travertine. That mix keeps the large areas low-maintenance and puts the real stone where it is seen up close.

How do I care for travertine mosaics in a shower?

Seal them after installation and reseal when water stops beading on the surface. Clean with a pH neutral cleaner rather than acidic or bleach-based products, which can dull the stone. Rinse soap off after use.

Will the porcelain match the real travertine exactly?

Close, but not exactly, and that is part of the look. Natural travertine shifts in tone from piece to piece, while porcelain is more even. Lay the samples together at home to see how the two sit side by side.

Where does a fluted mosaic work best?

Fluting suits vertical surfaces where light can skim across the ribs: a vanity wall, a bath front or a kitchen island. On a flat wall it reads as a soft stripe. Avoid spots that need constant scrubbing, as the grooves take more effort to clean.
