Terrazzo, made easy

Traditional terrazzo is poured on site from cement or resin with chips of marble and glass, then ground and polished. Terrazzo tiles give you the same speckled look in porcelain, which is lighter, quicker to lay and needs no sealing. Almost every tile in this collection is porcelain, and most are rated for both floors and walls.

Colours and chip styles

Terrazzo can be quiet or playful, depending on the base colour and the size of the chips.

  • Soft and colourful: Venice Villa comes in White, Ivory, Pink, Coral, Blue, Green, Yellow, Silver, Earth and Zinc. Bondi and Bondi Blush give a light, beachy feel.
  • Neutral and modern: Portland 2.0 and 3.0, Pols Series and Misto Stone keep to whites, greys and beiges.
  • Statement looks: Terrazzo Rosso Crema, Cocci, Primi Cobbles and The Rocks, an Italian terrazzo look.
  • Budget friendly: Builders Range Terrazzo Bianco, Terrazzo Hematite, Mars Silver and Dusk White; see builder ranges.

For feature walls, the Kit Kat Terrazzo Mosaic comes on 300 x 300 mm sheets; see more kit kat tiles.

Sizes and slip ratings

The main sizes are 600 x 600, 300 x 600 and 300 x 300 mm, with 600 x 1200 mm and 900 x 900 mm for larger rooms and the Norrock Megaslab for floors and walls with almost no joints. Most tiles are rated P3 for indoor floors. For outdoors and pools, choose the Norrock Series Paver Tile or a grip finish rated P4 or P5; see outdoor tiles and pool tiles.

Styling terrazzo

  • Run the same terrazzo across a bathroom floor and up one wall for a seamless, retro-modern look.
  • Pick out one chip colour for the vanity, paint or towels.
  • Pair pink or coral terrazzo with pink tiles or sage for a softer scheme, or grey terrazzo with matte black tapware.

More options are in Italian tiles and white tiles.

FAQs

Is a terrazzo tile the same as real terrazzo?

Not quite. Real terrazzo is poured and polished on site, while our terrazzo tiles are porcelain made to look like it. The tile version is lighter, faster to install and does not need sealing.

Can terrazzo tiles be used outside?

Yes, if you choose an outdoor finish. Look for the Norrock Series Paver Tile or a grip terrazzo tile with a P4 or P5 slip rating for patios, paths and pool surrounds. Matt indoor tiles are not designed for wet outdoor areas.

What colour grout should I use with terrazzo tiles?

Match the grout to the base colour of the tile, not the chips. That lets the flecks stand out and keeps the floor looking like one continuous surface.

Is terrazzo good for a small bathroom?

Yes. A light terrazzo with small flecks adds interest without making the room feel busy. Use a larger tile such as 600 x 600 mm to keep grout lines to a minimum.
