Pool tiles for the shell, the waterline and the surround: Spanish glass mosaics in blues, greens and whites, terrazzo looks, and slip-rated pavers and coping for the edge.

Inside the pool: glass mosaics

Glass mosaic is the classic choice for lining a pool. It is non-porous, copes with chlorine and salt water, and its colour shapes the colour of the water. This collection includes Ezarri glass mosaics from Spain and the Leyla Mosaic range, with blends named after places such as Bora Bora, Fiji, Mykonos, Monaco, Bali and Balmoral. Square formats such as the Gloss Square Pool Mosaic 47 x 47 mm and Calacatta Mosaic 97 x 97 mm also suit pools. See glass mosaic pool tiles.

Choosing your water colour

The tile colour you pick changes how the water reads:

  • Light blues and whites give a bright, tropical aqua.
  • Mid and deep blues give a classic ocean blue. See blue tiles.
  • Greens and greys give a natural, lagoon-like tone that sits well in a garden.
  • Black and charcoal give a deep, reflective finish.

Order samples and look at them wet and in daylight, because colours shift under water and with pool depth.

Waterline and feature tiles

Many pools use a band of feature tile at the waterline, where it is seen most. The Venice Villa terrazzo range in Silver, Blue, Coral, Green and Yellow, and Matcha Spanish Porcelain Subway in gloss, bring colour and pattern to waterlines, spa walls and water features. Check each product page to confirm it suits your use.

The pool surround and coping

Around the pool, safety comes first. Choose P5 where bare feet will be wet, or at least P4, in a grip or external finish. Porcelain options include the Andes Outdoor 20mm Paver, Norrock Series Paver and Tufa Veincut Travertine Look, with Andes Paver Coping 400 x 600 x 20 mm or Precious Travertine Bullnose for the pool edge. See pavers and pool coping, anti-slip tiles and outdoor tiles for the rest of the garden.

FAQs

Are glass mosaics good for inside a pool?

Yes. Glass is non-porous, so it holds its colour and copes with chlorine and salt water. It is smooth to touch and easy to keep clean. Use the adhesive and grout recommended for submerged installation.

What tile colour makes pool water look blue?

Light blue and white mosaics give a bright aqua, while mid and dark blues give a deeper ocean tone. The depth of the pool and the light also change the colour, so view samples wet and outdoors.

What slip rating do I need around a pool?

Pool surrounds should be P4 at a minimum, and P5 is recommended where people walk barefoot on wet tiles. Choose a grip or external finish and avoid polished surfaces near water.

Can porcelain tiles be used inside a pool?

Some can, but check that the product is suited to submerged use before you order. Glass mosaic remains the most common choice for the pool shell because it handles water chemistry and wraps curves and steps easily.

How do I keep glass pool mosaics clean?

Keep the water chemistry balanced to limit scale. Brush the waterline regularly, as this is where oils and calcium build up. For heavier scale, use a cleaner made for pool tiles.
