Chrome tapware, showers and accessories from Caroma, Meir and ADP: the bright, reflective classic that suits almost any tile and is the easiest finish to keep clean.

Why chrome is still the classic

Chrome is a bright, mirror-like finish that reflects light around the room. It is crisp and clean, and it works in almost any style, from a classic white bathroom to a modern marble one. It is also the most practical finish. Water spots wipe off easily and it is less fussy about cleaning than matte finishes.

The widest choice of ranges

Chrome is offered across nearly the whole range, which makes it the easiest finish to plan a full bathroom in.

  • Caroma: Urbane II, Liano II, Contura II and Riviere tapware, showers and accessories. Riviere is offered in chrome but not in black or gunmetal.
  • Meir: Round, Piccola and Curvaé designs, from tall basin mixers to shower rails.
  • ADP: the Eternal and Soul ranges, from gooseneck basin mixers to shower sets.

Choose from basin mixers, wall mixers, spouts, shower sets, bath fillers, kitchen mixers and towel rails.

Tiles that suit chrome

  • White and grey: chrome with white subway tiles or soft grey tiles gives a fresh, clean bathroom.
  • Marble: chrome brings out the cool veining in white marble tiles and marble looks.
  • Blues and greens: cool colours and glossy tiles pick up the shine of chrome.
  • Black and white: a checkerboard floor and chrome fittings is a timeless, retro look.

Chrome can look cold next to very warm timbers and terracotta. If your palette is warm, consider nickel, which has a softer, slightly warmer tone.

Caring for chrome tapware

Wipe chrome with a damp soft cloth and dry it to keep the shine. For soap build-up, use warm water and a little mild soap. Avoid scourers, steel wool and abrasive powders, which leave fine scratches. A quick wipe after each shower keeps water spots away in hard water areas.

FAQs

Is chrome tapware still in style?

Yes. Chrome is a classic that suits white, grey and marble bathrooms, and it never looks out of place. It is also the finish with the widest choice of designs, so it is easy to match every piece.

What is the difference between chrome and brushed nickel?

Chrome is bright and mirror-like. Brushed nickel has a soft, satin sheen and a slightly warmer tone. Nickel hides water spots a little better, while chrome is easier to wipe to a shine.

How do I stop water spots on chrome taps?

Wipe the taps dry with a soft cloth after use, especially if you have hard water. Clean with mild soap and warm water when needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners, which scratch the surface and make spots harder to remove.

Can I use chrome tapware with warm-toned tiles?

You can, but chrome can look cool next to terracotta, timber and beige stone. If your room is mostly warm, nickel, brass or bronze will sit more naturally with the tiles.
